Also, for mobs that survive the 1st few hits, there is a good chance they are frozen - reducing incoming damage. Leaving few mobs for res, exploders, consuming. With it, I have a total of 20% freeze chance which combined with Hatred (& crits) almost all whites and many blue/yellows shatter. I even died to a corpse exploder.Īfter that I went back to using Ice Bite. This allowed a higher # of blades and made curse immune mobs a little easier.īut, after playing that way for a few days, I found I was taking more damage. I may be limited by my mana leech rate.Īfter awhile I settled on reduced mana as the 5th gem. The tool tip may have shown higher dps but I couldn't sustain as many blades. Ice Bite - due to the initial socket colors (it was also leveled some as I used it before I got spell echo)īecause of my small effective mana pool, only 109, using poison/Phys to lightning and other expensive supports actually lowered my real DPS. Using these as a base some of the supports I tried: Since then I've experimented a bunch.Īs a reminder with a 4-link I had BV - Added Fire - Faster Casting - Spell Echo. Prior to the 1st post, I hadn't had a chance to play around with my new 5-link. I've updated the skill tree in the original post. Reached lvl89 but didn't make my goal of 90. 1) maps with reduced/no regen take a little extra care Reserved mana - the dual curse auras + hatred leave me with 110 mana. Most of the time mobs that charge or leap die (whites), or at least get stunned (blues/yellows) when they hit the outer edge of the vortex. Also, until about lvl85 it was only 4-linked. I needed mobs to get close enough for warlord's give me leech but ideally not so close to always be able to hit me. If things seem a bit dangerous I pop the smoke cloud flask.įor damage, Blade Vortex seemed like a good choice (plus I'd never used it). I also run Blasphemy + Warlord's Mark + Enfeeble, and have Fortify linked with Wirlling Blades. Specifically, from the tree I go with Phase Acrobatics. The core of this build is strong defense from the tree and curses. I haven't seen another quite like it - maybe for good reason :) ShadowSaw is lvl 88 and still going strong - my previous highest was 80 (and was struggling). In the Perandus League, I ended up with a build that served me well enough to prompt me to post about it. So I need a tree that gives me a good solid base. So, I can't count on getting great gear, or even a specific unique. I just prefer to play than spent time trading. This will grant more damage per hit on Blade Vortex, while also providing another chance to shock that does not rely on CwDT.I play self found. Also, I was considering to use a Doryani's Fist. High Evasion will surely help, so you can stack it up. What I would aim for is an Alpha's Howl, since it further reduces mana reserved, boosts your Aura level and provides a good chunk of Evasion. This combo, together with Immortal Call, chances to freeze (frozen/chilled mobs deal no damage, so further dps reduction), high life leech %, and a notable life pool, should guarantee survivability in most cases.Īs for the gear, you can use pretty much what you want, there's nothing really mandatory. Also, Arctic Armour and Summon Chaos Golem provide further damage mitigation, both from physical and from fire sources. So, Blind provides another way to make enemies miss (together with the reduced accuracy from Enfeeble), while Enfeeble reduces the damage, Crit Chance and Crit Multiplier of the mobs around you (thanks to Blasphemy). Why Blind and Enfeeble? Because Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics provide a mean to dodge attacks, but when hit you should be able to endure dmg spikes. This setup eases your job in terms of freezing enemies in order to gain more FCs, while also helping damage output by shocking enemies (if you choose to use Shock Nova or Arc). The main skill would be (in this case) Blade Vortex, linked to Spell Eco -> Ice Bite (to gain FCs, freezing enemies with the cold dmg from Hatred, which will grant more dmg and cast speed) -> Blind -> Added Fire Dmg/Faster Casting/Poison/Increased Duration/Othersġ) CwDT + Increased Duration + Immortal Call (+ Optional) (you will consume the Endurance Charges gained through Warlord's Mark, making IC last longer)Ģ) CwDT + Glacial Cascade + Ice Nova/Shock Nova/Arc (+ Optional). Also, it's important to use Summon Chaos Golem for the extra damage mitigation. My idea is to use Blasphemy with Enfeeble and Warlord's Mark, together with Hatred and Arctic Armour. It's plenty of life and phys dmg nodes, while also providing 20% less mana reserved, skill duration (for blade vortex, remove those 3 points in case you use any of the 2 other phys spells), life/mana leech, +3 max Frenzy Charges, VP, and Acro/Phase Acro. Hey there, I have a couple ideas about a build for Blade Vortex/Bladefall/Ethereal Knives, whichever you prefer.
